Media Release from OurTMH

Our TMH continues to work on behalf of our 20,000 members as well as the broader community as we try to enhance local health care.

Early in 2017 OurTMH began investigating the idea of providing chronic kidney disease care (including dialysis) out of a unit in Trenton Memorial Hospital(TMH). We have no clear direction yet. Our TMH has asked the Ontario Renal Network (ORN) for the capacity numbers for our area including the current numbers as well as the numbers that predicted growth will result in will dictate if there is a need for this service.

We have not yet seen those numbers. We continue to wait for the publicly funded ORN to respond to our request.

In the meantime, we hear the stories & understand the challenges many kidney care patients in our area struggle with. To accurately understand those struggles, we are reaching out to those patients impacted by the need to travel for treatment. We want to hear from patients, care providers or support team members from Quinte West, Stirling, Brighton, Belleville & parts of Prince Edward County. Our vision for a CKDU would benefit people in all those areas.
